The Iowa Gold Star Futurity is planning on splitting the 2008 Half Arabian YEARLING OPEN Halter Classes. (Going forward the two year old and three year old Half Arabian Halter Classes may be split depending on the judgment of the Gold Star Committee. 2008 two and three year old Half Arabian classes WILL NOT be split.)
Half Arabian entries will be categorized as “STOCK TYPE” or “SADDLE TYPE”. This determination will be made BEFORE the foal is born. Type shall be determined as follows:
1) If sire is a Saddlebred, NSH, Friesian, Tennessee Walker, Dutch Harness Horse, or any other “Gaited” breed, the foal will be placed in the “SADDLE TYPE” division.
2) If sire is a Quarter Horse, Paint Horse, Morgan, Appaloosa, or any other “Stock” breed, the foal will be placed in the “STOCK TYPE” division.
3) If sire is a Purebred Arabian, the mare will be the deciding factor.
a. If Purebred Arabian Stallion is bred to a Saddlebred, NSH, Friesian, Tennessee Walker, Dutch Harness Horse, or any other “Gaited” breed mare, the foal will be placed in the “SADDLE TYPE” division.
b. If the Purebred Arabian Stallion is bred to a Quarter Horse, Paint, Morgan, Appaloosa, or any other “Stock” breed mare, the foal will be placing in the “STOCK TYPE” division.
If the mare’s breed origin in questionable, the type will be determined by the Gold Star Committee. If any other question arises as to division type, the Gold Star Committee will determine which category the foal will be designated to. Committee’s decision will be final.

The Half Arabian (Partbred) section of the Stallion Auction shall pool funds gathered and those monies shall be split into the “STOCK TYPE” and “SADDLE TYPE” divisions equally.
