General Rules:
A. The Iowa Gold Star Stallion Futurity shall be divided into two sections.
B. Fees must be according for specific deadlines, or risk possible disqualification of entry.
A. The owner or leasor of the nominated stallion must be in good standing with the Iowa Arabian Horse Association.
B. Stallion owners must nominate their stallions annually with the current renomination fee.
C. Stallions must be nominated to the Iowa Gold Star Stallion list before mares that are bred to them can be nominated.
D. Each year stallions must be nominated into the Iowa Gold Star Program.
E. There is no limit as to how many mares can be nominated for any one stallion; however, if a stallion is nominated in only the Purebred portion of the futurity, only Purebred mares may be nominated. If a stallion is only nominated in the Partbred portion of the futurity, only Half Arabian foals may be nominated. If the Stallion is in both portions, then both Purebred and Partbred (Half Arab) foals may be nominated.
F. Stallions must be approved by the Iowa Gold Star Futurity Committee before being enrolled in the program.
G. If a stallion's breeding is sold back to the owner for the minimum fee two years in a row, the committee reserves the right to remove that stallion from the program.
H. All stallion owners must supply a valid CC number at the time of application.
I. If there are no bids reaching those minimum requirements at the 2012 auction the stallion owner agrees to authorize use of the Credit Card for payment of the auction breeding(s) with 30 days of the auction or sign a promissory note and use any of the Payment plans available. If payment is not received, the stallion shall not be allowed to participate in following year’s auction and mares bred to that stallion shall not be allowed to participate in the program.
A. All mares bred to a nominated stallion in the Iowa Gold Star Program who’s resulting foal is eligible for registration with the Arabian Horse Registry of America, The Canadian Arabian Horse Registry or the Arabian Horse Association are eligible to participate in the Iowa Gold Star Program.
B. The mare must be nominated and the nomination fee must be paid by the advertised deadline of the year the mare is bred.
C. The mare nomination form must be completely filled out, signed, and nomination fee included before the mare nomination will be accepted.
D. The resulting foal is eligible to be shown as a yearling, two year old, three year old and in performance division classes regardless of sale of transfer of ownership.
E. Mare nominations may be carried over one year if mare aborts, absorbs, or does not have a qualifying 'live foal' from the nominated cross. Transfer of nomination must be on same stallion and mare cross and will only be allowed the year immediately following the initial nomination. *A live foal shall be defined as a foal that lives more than 30 days after birth.
A. The foals resulting from proper mare nominations may be shown as yearlings, 2 year olds and 3 year olds at the Iowa Gold Star Futurity show.
B. The colts and fillies will be divided into separate groups, yearling geldings will show with yearling colts.
C. Prize money will be decided between the top five horses in each division. Prize money amounts will depend on the number nominated and class entry fees. (**Exception: Yearling Auction and Open Classes will name TOP TEN with Champion and Reserve being called out)
D. Halter showing of two year olds or older stallions must be by a handler 18 years or older.
The Iowa Gold Star Futurity split the Half Arabian YEARLING OPEN Halter Classes in 2008. The two year old and three year old Half Arabian Halter Classes may be split depending on the judgment of the Iowa Gold Star Committee.
Half Arabian entries will be categorized as “STOCK TYPE” or “SADDLE TYPE”.
This determination will be made BEFORE the foal is born. Type shall be determined as follows:
A. If sire is a Saddlebred, NSH, Friesian, Tennessee Walker, Morgan, Dutch Harness Horse, or any other “Gaited” breed, the foal will be placed in the “SADDLE TYPE” division.
B. If sire is a Quarter Horse, Paint Horse, Appaloosa, or any other “Stock” breed, the foal will be placed in the “STOCK TYPE” division.
C. If sire is a Purebred Arabian, the mare will be the deciding factor.
The Half Arabian (Partbred) section of the Stallion Auction shall pool funds gathered and those monies shall be split into the “STOCK TYPE” and “SADDLE TYPE” divisions equally.
The Iowa Gold Star Program shall be divided into the following divisions for both Purebred and Partbred Arabians.
Once nominated into the Iowa Gold Star Program, entries are entitled to participate as long as properly entered into the futurity.
This is an open nomination for any age get of a current Iowa Gold Star sire.
A. Champion, Reserve Champion and 3 Top Five Ribbons. (**Yearling Auction and Open classes Champion, Reserve Champion and 8 Top Ten Ribbons)
B. Prize money will be divided according to percentage schedule shown on fee schedule sheet.
Stallion Nominations

Any stallion owner who nominates a new stallion into the program would be allowed to enroll mares currently in foal for an additional $500 fee and the $100 mare nomination fee. Retro fees will only be accepted after the stallion has been nominated and accepted as an Iowa Gold Star Stallion.

(New in 2011 - Top 20 will be paid out in the Arabian Open Yearling Filly & Colt/Gelding classes)
In the event that the classes are not full then the percentages will remain the same for those placed.
